Last day to nominate a local volunteerNominations for Community Links Bromley’s annual Volunteer Awards close on Friday 21 August. Categories include young volunteer, trustee, team, long service, health volunteer and people who help others to volunteer. Choose a category and make a nomination. Holiday clubs enter their final weekEligible children aged 5 to 16 can still join Bromley’s summer Holiday Activities and Food programme through Friday 28 August. Thursday 20 August Young makers can design and sew a cushion, 10am–4pm · £40–£75. Young makers with sewing-machine experience can create a travel, patchwork or appliqué cushion at Beckenham Place Mansion. Choose a £40 half-day session from 2–5pm or the £75 full day from 10am–4pm; materials are included. Book the Kids & Teens Creative Makers workshop. Saturday 22 August Children can try a coding club in Bromley, 10.30–11.15am · no booking needed. At the Pavilion Leisure Centre in Bromley town centre, the summer pop-up library runs a Coding Club for children aged 6 to 12. See the pop-up library details. Speak to neighbourhood officers on the Green, 11am–noon. Beckenham Town and Copers Cope’s Safer Neighbourhoods Team holds a drop-in surgery at Beckenham Green on the High Street. See the local team’s meeting details. Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 August Call in at Kelsey Park’s information centre, 2–4pm. Elmers End tram closure continues: No trams are serving Elmers End through Sunday 30 August; use Birkbeck or bus 289 between Arena and Elmers End. Beckenham Junction trams are running only to East Croydon while the Croydon town-centre loop and West Croydon remain closed. Check the latest tram status before travelling. Weekend Hopper covers buses and trams: On Saturdays, Sundays and the bank-holiday Monday through 31 August, you can make unlimited bus and tram journeys for the price of one pay-as-you-go fare. You must use the same card or device each time. Check the Weekend Hopper fare rules. Closures around Eden Park and Park Langley: Road closures are scheduled on Cameron Road through Monday 31 August, and on Stanhope Grove, Cherry Tree Walk and Glanfield Road through Sunday 13 September. Temporary traffic lights are in place on Eden Park Avenue during gas work. Queen Anne Avenue and Letchworth Drive: Queen Anne Avenue is scheduled to close through Sunday 23 August, while the closure on Letchworth Drive is scheduled through Thursday 27 August. |
