Beer festival takes over Southwark Park

London Craft Beer Festival comes to Southwark Park, between Bermondsey and Rotherhithe, for three public sessions on Friday 17 and Saturday 18 July, with more than 800 beers from over 150 breweries, plus food and music. Friday and Saturday evening sessions run from 5.30-10.30pm; the Saturday afternoon session runs from 11am-4pm but is sold out.

Standard evening tickets cost £64.50 plus a £6 booking fee and include beer, while food costs extra. Check remaining festival tickets before travelling.

Free weekend skateboarding starts at the plaza

Skate Haven CIC brings free skateboarding sessions to Canada Water Plaza from Saturday 18 July. The all-ages programme runs every Saturday and Sunday from 1-3pm, with beginner-friendly coaching, free-skate time and equipment provided.

Library summer craft sessions start on Tuesday

Canada Water Library starts Shake It Up! Musical Craft Fun on Tuesday 21 July from 2.30-3.30pm. Children aged 4 to 11 can make a didgeridoo and explore Australian culture in the first free, no-booking session. The programme then runs weekly until 25 August.

Independent makers, designers, collectors and artisans take over Deal Porters Way in Canada Water for a free Craft & Flea market. Expect handmade goods, vintage finds, homewares, jewellery, ceramics and textiles.

Rotherhithe Festival — 1 August

The free Rotherhithe Festival returns to King George's Fields with live music, children's rides, family activities and community stalls.

Thursday 16 July

Rotherhithe Shed, 1.30-4.30pm. People aged 55 and over can make, fix, drill, whittle or simply have a chat at the weekly Rotherhithe Shed. Time & Talents runs the free session at London Bubble Theatre, 5 Elephant Lane.

Friday 17 July

Friday Social at T&T2, 1-3pm. The weekly Friday Social offers conversation and activities for people aged 55 and over at T&T2 in Surrey Quays Shopping Centre.

Saturday 18 July

Southwark parkrun, 9am. Walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate at the free weekly 5k in Southwark Park. First-time runners should register for Southwark parkrun before taking part and bring a scannable barcode if they want a time.

Guided tour of the Brunel Museum, 12.30pm. Explore the Thames Tunnel Shaft and Engine House collection on a 45-minute guided tour at Rotherhithe's Brunel Museum. The tour is included with admission, which is £2.50 for SE16 and SE8 residents and free for under-16s; check current tour details before visiting.

Tuesday 21 July

Short Story Club, 6-7pm. Canada Water Library's informal Short Story Club discusses two stories by Tove Ditlevsen from The Trouble with Happiness. Collect a copy at the library or borrow the book through BorrowBox before the free session in Room 6.

Corner Corner Run Club, 6.30pm. Join a social 5k around Canada Water with no pace pressure. Meet at Corner Corner, where bag drop is available; there is no charge and no booking. See the run club details.

Roadworks and Transport

Raymouth Road closure remains until Monday: UK Power Networks' granted road closure on Raymouth Road is scheduled to remain until 6pm on Monday 20 July. Follow signed diversions and leave extra time for local driving trips.

Lower Road lane closure runs into Friday morning: TfL has a granted lane closure on Lower Road scheduled from 11pm on Wednesday 15 July until 5am on Friday 17 July. Allow extra time if you drive through the area overnight.

Cherry Garden Street closes for Thames Water works: A granted road closure on Cherry Garden Street is scheduled from Monday 20 to Wednesday 22 July for Thames Water works. Use local signed diversions while the closure is in place.

Rotherhithe Tunnel closes overnight on Monday: TfL's granted closure of Rotherhithe Tunnel is scheduled from 10pm on Monday 20 July until 5am on Tuesday 21 July. Drivers should use an alternative river crossing.
