Dockside Den opens with free family workshops

Canada Dock hosts the first three days of Dockside Den, a free summer programme for families. Drop in on Thursday 23 July for a bee workshop (11am-4pm) or pond exploration (11am-1pm), on Friday for drumming and art (11.30am-4pm), and on Saturday for a science workshop (11am-4pm).

No ticket is needed, though entry to individual activities may pause if they reach capacity. The programme continues on Thursdays to Saturdays through August.

Canada Water Theatre starts its summer programme

Canada Water Theatre's summer programme begins with Let's Create with Preacher from Wednesday 22 to Friday 24 July, followed by a play-reading marathon on Saturday 25 July. The temporary venue at Canada Dock is run by Theatre Peckham; check the theatre's booking page for performance times and tickets.

Free holiday club for 12- to 15-year-olds

Time & Talents starts a free holiday club for 12- to 15-year-olds at T&T2 in Surrey Quays on Friday 24 July, from 9.30am-4pm. The programme mixes arts and crafts, outdoor activities and performance, and young people need to register before attending.

The free, volunteer-led Rotherhithe Festival returns to King George's Fields with live music, children's rides and activities, plus stalls from local groups and organisations.

Bring a bike to Time & Talents' Pop-up Bike Repair at the Old Mortuary in Rotherhithe to learn simple fixes. The donation-based workshop also accepts unwanted bikes.

Friday Social at T&T2, 1-3pm. People aged 55 and over can join Friday Social for conversation, entertainment and activities at T&T2 in Surrey Quays Shopping Centre.

Saturday 25 July

Southwark parkrun, 9am. Walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate at the free weekly 5k in Southwark Park. New participants should register for Southwark parkrun before taking part and bring their barcode if they want a time.

Skate Canada Water, 1-3pm. Free skateboarding sessions return to Canada Water Plaza with beginner-friendly coaching, free-skate time and equipment provided. The sessions are open to all ages.

Thrive Market at Surrey Quays, Daytime. Meet local makers and start-up businesses at the Thrive Market in Surrey Quays Shopping Centre. Stalls range from art, books and vintage finds to food, beauty and handmade goods.
