Korean makers take over Corner Corner

Market Root brings more than 60 independent creatives and emerging brands to Corner Corner from 11am to 6pm on Saturday 5 September and 10am to 5pm on Sunday. Browse Korean fashion, jewellery, ceramics, beauty, art, books and food, with workshops and a mini library at the Joy of Slowness market. Entry is £3; under-15s go free with a parent.

Seven local roads close on Sunday

Council works are due to close Brunel Road, Canada Street, Lower Road, Quebec Way, Redriff Road, Salter Road and Surrey Quays Road throughout Sunday 6 September. The closures cover several key routes around Canada Water and Rotherhithe, so check your journey before setting out.

Explore the Thames Tunnel story, 10.30am-3.30pm. The Brunel Museum opens Friday to Monday, with last entry at 3pm. Admission is £2.50 for SE16 and SE8 locals, free for under-16s and £10 for other adults, including Gift Aid.

Saturday 5 September

Walk, jog or run Southwark parkrun, 9am. The free weekly Southwark parkrun covers 5km in Southwark Park. Register before your first visit and bring a scannable barcode if you want a recorded time; walkers, volunteers and spectators are welcome too.

Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 September

Free skateboarding in Canada Water Plaza, 1-3pm. All ages and abilities can join free Skate Canada Water sessions, with beginner-friendly coaching, free skating and equipment provided. Book a place for Saturday or Sunday afternoon.

Roadworks and Transport

Rotherhithe Tunnel closes overnight: The Rotherhithe Tunnel is due to close from 10pm on Monday 7 September until 5am on Tuesday 8 September. The tunnel's usual size and weight restrictions apply when it reopens.

Timber Pond Road traffic lights: Multi-way temporary traffic lights are due on Timber Pond Road from Monday 7 to Friday 11 September for UK Power Networks works.

Brunswick Quay works: Carriageway works are due on Brunswick Quay from Thursday 3 to Monday 7 September for broadband installation.

Community Notice

Young artists have until 30 September

Young people aged 12 to 17 can submit up to three character drawings, scenes or comic pages to Southwark Libraries' free Graphic Art Competition. Drop work at Canada Water Library or email it by Wednesday 30 September; entries will be exhibited at an October prize-giving.
