Bring a plant, photo or idea to Penge Green Gala

The Penge Green Gala is looking for flowers, plants, produce, photos, artwork, upcycled items and green-living ideas for its community display. Contributions can be dropped at Penge East Community Centre on Friday 19 June, 2-6pm, Saturday 20 June, 9am-1pm, or at the gala itself on Saturday afternoon.

Beckenham Library wants user feedback

Beckenham Library is taking part in Better's annual library user survey. The library page invites residents to say how facilities and services could improve, so this is a useful moment to feed back on local library activities, study space and access.

Thursday 18 June

Crib Notes Choir at Beckenham Place Mansion, 1-2pm. The daytime parents' choir meets at the Mansion today, with babies welcome. Tickets are £7 on the Crib Notes Choir event page.

Friday 19 June

Penge Festival bowls at West Beckenham Bowls Club, 5.30-9pm. West Beckenham Bowls Club hosts another Penge Festival bowls evening, a social chance to try the green on a summer evening.

Saturday 20 June

Penge Green Gala, 2-6pm. The Penge Green Gala at Penge East Community Centre is a relaxed community display of flowers, plants, produce, photos, art and green ideas, with cream tea, cakes and creative activities for all ages.

Sunday 21 June

Food and Farmers Market at Beckenham Place Park, 10am-3pm. The weekly Food and Farmers Market runs by Beckenham Hill Road, with fresh produce and street food a short walk from the playground.

Penge Festival Kids Fun Day, Noon-3pm. Kids Fun Day runs at Penge Recreation Ground on High Street, with face painting, dancing, sport, entertainment and a free lunch bag.

Wild South London Midsummer Nature Festival, 1.30-5pm. The free Midsummer Nature Festival brings drop-in activities, crafts, seasonal storytelling and a self-guided nature trail to Beckenham Place Mansion. Because it falls on Father's Day, Wild South London has added family activities and a display on nature's finest parents.

Roadworks and Transport

Copers Cope Road: The gas works road closure continues until late July, so allow extra time around New Beckenham and Beckenham Junction.

Avenue Road, Hayes Lane and Letchworth Drive: SGN gas works continue with multi-way signals on Avenue Road until Monday 29 June, multi-way signals on Hayes Lane until the end of July, and a road closure on Letchworth Drive in Park Langley until late July.

High Street, Pickhurst Lane and Cumberland Road: Bromley works with carriageway incursion run through Monday 22 June on High Street, Pickhurst Lane and two parts of Cumberland Road.

College Road and Calverley Close: SGN works mean a lane closure on College Road until Monday 22 June and carriageway incursion on Calverley Close until Friday 26 June.
