Holiday clubs enter their final weekEligible children aged 5 to 16 can still join Bromley’s summer Holiday Activities and Food programme through Friday 28 August. Sessions include sport, cooking, coding, drama, music and creative activities, with a meal included. Check eligibility and find available clubs. Free Crofton Woods walk this SaturdayJoin a free, all-ages stroll at 2pm on Saturday 22 August to identify trees, birds and woodland wildlife, with a chance of seeing Purple Hairstreak and White Admiral butterflies. Thursday 20 August Board games and coffee in Petts Wood, 12:30pm–2:30pm · £10. Gather around shared tables at Cheeky Goat Coffee, 103a Queensway, for a relaxed board-game afternoon. Everyone is welcome, whether you come with others or on your own; most games are best suited to ages 8 and over. The ticket includes games, help learning the rules and one hot drink. Perform or simply listen as Orpington Folk Club hosts an informal evening of traditional, contemporary and blues music at Farnborough Social Club. Meet the team from Brixton's Supercute Brewery as four of its beers take over the lines at One Inn The Wood, 209 Petts Wood Road. Walk, jog or run the weekly 5k at Goddington Park. Register before your first visit and bring a scannable barcode for a timed result; the mixed grass and gravel course can be uneven. Check the course and travel details. Holly's Buddies play the late-fifties favourites, 7:30pm–10:10pm. Holly’s Buddies bring their Buddy Holly tribute and other late-1950s favourites to Orpington Liberal Club, joined by singer and guitarist Clint Travis Batham. Charing Cross and Waterloo East close on Sunday: No Southeastern trains will serve London Charing Cross or Waterloo East on Sunday 23 August. Grove Park line trains, including Orpington and Sevenoaks services, will run to and from London Cannon Street instead; Underground travel is accepted between the affected central-London stations. Check Sunday’s rail changes before travelling. Avalon Road and Walsingham Road closures: Road closures are scheduled on Avalon Road through Monday 7 September for gas-network work and on Walsingham Road through Saturday 29 August for power-network work. Sevenoaks Way traffic lights through next weekend: Temporary traffic lights are scheduled on Sevenoaks Way through Saturday 29 August during power-network work. Shorter water works around Orpington: Roadworks are scheduled on Capel Close and Borkwood Way through Friday 21 August, with Littlejohn Road works finishing late on Thursday 20 August.
