Free floating cinema opens today

The free Floating Cinema Club opens on Canada Dock at noon today, Thursday 6 August, with Elemental (PG). This weekend brings 50 First Dates at 9pm on Friday, two films from 6pm on Saturday, and The Fall Guy at 6pm on Sunday. Bring a blanket; screenings continue Wednesdays to Sundays until 30 August.

Live jazz and soul starts on Canada Dock

Canada Dock's free Jazz & Soul weekends begin with Mark Kavuma & The Banger Factory at 2pm on Saturday 8 August and Soul Sanctuary Gospel Choir at 2pm on Sunday 9 August. Sofar Sounds warm-up acts begin at 2.20pm, with no ticket or booking needed.

Three days of free family activities

This week's Dockside Den at Canada Dock has a bee workshop on Thursday (11am-4pm), drumming and art on Friday (11.30am-4pm), and Sharky & George games on Saturday (11am-4pm). Activities are free and drop-in, though access may pause if they reach capacity.

Rotherhithe Shed, 1.30-4.30pm. Adults can join Rotherhithe Shed at Time & Talents' Old Mortuary for a practical afternoon of making, mending and sharing skills.

Saturday 8 August

Southwark parkrun, 9am. Walk, jog, run or volunteer at the free weekly 5km parkrun in Southwark Park. First-time participants should register beforehand and bring a scannable barcode.

Sunday 9 August

Guided tour of the Brunel Museum, 12.30pm. A 45-minute guided tour in Rotherhithe is included with Brunel Museum admission. Standard entry is £10, under-16s enter free and SE16 or SE8 residents pay £2.50; book the 12.30pm admission slot to secure a tour place.

Roadworks and Transport

Multi-way signals around Lower Road: UK Power Networks works are due to use multi-way temporary signals around Lower Road, Surrey Quays Road and Gomm Road from 8am on Thursday 6 August until 6pm on Wednesday 19 August. Allow extra time through the junction, especially at busy periods.

Millstream Road closure: Southwark works are due to close Millstream Road from Thursday 6 to Friday 7 August. Use nearby routes while the closure is in place.
