Bring broken things to Rotherhithe’s repair day
Time & Talents is hosting two practical workshops at the Old Mortuary on Saturday 3 October. Its current events calendar confirms that the free Repair Cafe will help mend household items from 10am to 1pm, while the donation-based bike workshop runs until 4pm and teaches simple repairs. You can also donate a bike you no longer need.
A new social 5km starts at Corner Corner
The all-welcome Corner Corner Run Club meets at 6.30pm every Tuesday, with the next run on 6 October. There is a bag drop, the group follows a 5km loop around Canada Water at a social pace, and runners get half-price drinks afterwards, including an alcohol-free option. Just turn up.
Test your knowledge beneath Rotherhithe
Matt Brown of Londonist Time Machine brings 50 questions about Tube stations, sewers, bunkers, catacombs and tombs to the Brunel Museum’s Thames Tunnel Shaft. The Underground Pub Quiz runs from 6pm to 9pm on Wednesday 7 October. Book as a team of up to five or enter alone and join a team on the night.

DEBUT’s next Secret Concert pairs emerging classical musicians with storytelling, a relaxed atmosphere and Korean food at the Brunel Museum. The bar opens at 6pm and music starts at 7.20pm; advance booking is required.
Saturday 31 October
Walk through Rotherhithe’s dark side
Victorian-costumed guides lead The Dark Side of Rotherhithe, a Halloween walk through stories of murder, a graveyard and a mortuary before heading into the Thames Tunnel Shaft. The museum’s autumn programme confirms the Saturday 31 October event; check booking availability with the museum.

Walk and talk around Rotherhithe, 10.30am–12.30pm · free. Meet at Time & Talents’ Old Mortuary for a free, friendly Walk & Talk through Rotherhithe’s back streets and green spaces. It is open to adults aged 18 and over; wear comfortable clothes and drop in without booking.
Practise English at Canada Water Library, 12–2pm · free. The free, informal English+ group uses conversation to practise vocabulary and grammar. It meets at Canada Water Library and you can drop in without booking.
Friday 2 October
Try beginner-friendly qigong, 10–11am. Emma leads gentle movement, breathing and mindfulness at the Old Mortuary. The qigong class suits beginners and can be adapted for seated exercise; contact Time & Talents through the calendar before your first session.
Saturday 3 October
Visit Surrey Docks Farm by the river, 10am–4pm · free entry. Surrey Docks Farm is open free every day, with a one-way route past the animals, a farm shop and riverside gardens. Enter through the Thames Path gates; no advance booking is needed for an ordinary visit.
Tuesday 6 October
Songs and smiles for little ones, 11am–noon · free. Parents and carers can bring babies and children under four to Songs & Smiles at the Old Mortuary for music, singing and play with older neighbours. The session is free; book through the organiser details on the linked page.
