Derry Hill and Studley fete programme is out
The village fete returns to Lansdowne Hall on Wednesday 8 July, 1.30pm to 5pm, with free entry and a Celebrate Wiltshire theme. The programme includes the community award, Rub-a-dub children's races, Fitzgraham School of Dance, arts and crafts prizes, games, Dave Hickory, the raffle and tug of war. Allow extra time for Bowood visits from Derry Hill
Bowood is warning visitors to allow extra time because of roadworks on the approach to the House and Gardens entrance in Derry Hill. The estate says access remains open and visitors should follow the diversion signs; the note appears on the Indian Block Printing Workshop page for Friday 19 June, which is now sold out.

Bowood House Triathlon and Running Festival
Bowood hosts its triathlon and running festival on Sunday, with Olympic and Standard triathlon options, junior racing for children aged 9 and over, and new 5k and 10k runs from 8.30am to 10.30am. Spectators are free, excluding entry to the House and Gardens, and participant prices start at £35. The Bowood event page has the timings, prices and booking link.

Calne Summer Calneval is planned for Saturday 27 June, 1pm to 6pm. It is the next bigger family date in town after this weekend; Calne Town Council lists it on its what's on page.

Thursday 18 June
Coffee in Derry Hill and Rhyme Time in Calne, 10.30am and 11am. Christ Church, Derry Hill has its informal Coffee and Chat from 10.30am to noon, and Calne Library has Rhyme Time at 11am for under-fives. Check the Christ Church events page and the Calne News events calendar before setting out.
Friday 19 June
Library rhymes, bricks and board games, 11am-4.30pm. Calne Library has Rhyme Time at 11am, Pins and Needles and Toy and Brick Making from 2pm, then Board not Bored games from 2.30pm. The events calendar has the current entries.
Crafternoon at Christ Church, 2-4pm. Christ Church, Derry Hill runs Crafternoon every Friday from 2pm to 4pm. Bring your own craft activity and use it as a sociable, local afternoon session; the recurring entry is on A Church Near You.
Saturday 20 June
Brick Creators and Toddler Time, 10am and 11am. Calne Library has Brick Creators' Club from 10am and Saturday Toddler Time at 11am. The town events calendar keeps the weekly library entries in one place.
Sunday 21 June
Junior parkrun and Park Yoga, 8.50am and 9.30am. Calne Recreation Ground has junior parkrun for ages 4 to 14 at 8.50am, followed by Park Yoga at 9.30am. Register before a first junior parkrun visit and bring a barcode.
Roadworks and Transport
Church Road and Studley Lane closure due to finish Friday: The Derry Hill and Studley closure is due to run to Friday 19 June, with Church Road and Studley Lane under a road closure while Wiltshire Council works continue. The closure has also affected Faresaver routes 33, X33 and X10; Calne News has the temporary bus stop details.
A4 Studley Hill junction closed to Friday: Wessex Water works at the junction with the A4 north to Studley Hill run from Thursday 18 to Friday 19 June with a road closure. It is a short job, but worth allowing for if you use the A4 approaches.
Calne town-centre signals continue to Monday: Multi-way signals remain on Church Street, Coxs Hill, New Road and The Strand until Monday 22 June. Expect slower trips through the town-centre approaches, with other short utility works also dotted around nearby streets.
Beversbrook Road evening closure starts Wednesday: A Beversbrook Road closure starts on Wednesday 24 June and runs to Friday 10 July, alongside the longer A3102 improvement works around Beversbrook Road and Stanier Road. Allow extra time on the Calne approaches, especially in the evening.

Studley rear extension and loft conversion: A new Wiltshire Council application covers a rear extension, loft conversion and external alterations at Chiromawa, Old Road, Studley. The application was received on Friday 12 June and is under consultation as reference PL/2026/03434 on the Wiltshire planning register.
Farm store proposed off Lower Compton Road: A separate application proposes a steel portal-framed general-purpose store, concrete apron and landscaping at Fairholme Farm, Lower Compton Road, Cherhill. It was received on Thursday 11 June and is under consultation as reference PL/2026/03451 on the planning register.
