Sunday rail works cut off routes south of Orpington

No trains will run between Orpington and Tonbridge on Sunday 6 September. Accessible replacement buses will run to Sevenoaks and Tonbridge, with Chelsfield among the stations served only by bus. Orpington trains that normally use London Victoria will run to and from Blackfriars instead. Check the Orpington–Tonbridge changes and the London Victoria diversions.

Tripes Farm holds its penultimate boot sale

Tripes Farm on Chelsfield Lane opens its field to buyers and sellers from 7am on Sunday 6 September. Buyer entry and parking are free; the farm advises calling 01689 876602 on the day for a recorded update if the weather looks doubtful. One final sale is planned for Sunday 20 September. Thursday 3 September

Help choose Orpington Liberal Club’s house whites, 7:30pm–10pm · £10. Blind-taste three Pinot Grigios, three Sauvignon Blancs and three Chardonnays at Orpington Liberal Club, 7 Station Road. The winning wine in each category will join the bar’s house selection. Tickets include snacks and are sold in advance at the club bar; non-members also pay £1 entry. See the blind-tasting details.

Australian folk singer Bruce Watson, 8pm. Orpington Folk Club welcomes Australian singer-songwriter Bruce Watson to Farnborough Social Club, 6 Pleasant View Place. The non-profit club is open to people who want to listen as well as perform. See the September folk programme.

Saturday 5 September

Family wildlife walk at Hoblingwell Wood, 11am–1pm · free. Explore the wildlife and local history of Hoblingwell Wood on a free guided family walk, meeting at the recreation ground car park, BR5 2QB. Places are limited and children must come with an adult. Book the Hoblingwell walk.

Young musicians perform at All Saints, 7pm · £10. Young musicians from the Royal College of Music and Westminster School perform Tchaikovsky, Brahms, Mendelssohn and more at All Saints Church, 44 Bark Hart Road. Tickets are available online and on the door; interval refreshments and a raffle are also planned. Book the All Saints concert.

Sunday 6 September

Tripes Farm car boot sale, From 7am · free for buyers. Browse second-hand finds at Tripes Farm, Chelsfield Lane. Sellers and early buyers can arrive from 7am, with most people arriving around 8am; toilets, refreshments and parking are available. Check the sale is going ahead before setting out if the weather is poor.

Roadworks and Transport

Crofton Road temporary lights through Sunday: Multi-way temporary traffic lights are scheduled on Crofton Road through Sunday 6 September during mobile-network work.

Three road closures to plan around: Walsingham Road is scheduled to stay closed through Friday 4 September during power-network work. The Landway remains closed through Friday 25 September for gas-network work, while Sevenoaks Road is due to close overnight from 8pm to 6am on Monday 7 to Thursday 10 September.
