Pewsham Locks open day

The Wilts & Berks Canal Trust opens Pewsham Locks for guided tours, wildlife information and boat trips aboard the wheelchair-accessible Mary Archard from 12.30pm. The open-day listing has the practical details.

Derry Hill and Studley Parish Council meeting

Thursday 2 July

Coffee and Chat at Christ Church, 10.30am-noon. Drop into Christ Church, Derry Hill for its informal weekly coffee morning. Everyone is welcome and no booking is needed; see the Christ Church events page.

Friday 3 July

Crafternoon at Christ Church, 2-4pm. Bring your own craft activity for a sociable afternoon at Christ Church, Derry Hill. The session is open to anyone who would enjoy crafting in company.

Saturday 4 July

Chippenham Carnival, 2-8.30pm. The Carnival Village opens in Island Park at 2pm with live entertainment, food and family activities. A walking parade through the town centre starts at 3pm; the carnival page has the programme.

Sunday 5 July

Calne junior parkrun, 8.50am. Children aged 4 to 14 can take part in the free weekly 2km event at Calne Recreation Ground. Register before a first visit and bring a scannable barcode; the junior parkrun page explains how it works.

Roadworks and Transport

Lodge Road signals continue: Two-way temporary signals are in place on Lodge Road for Scottish and Southern Power Distribution work and are currently due to continue until Thursday 9 July. Allow extra time towards Sandy Lane and Bowood.

Beversbrook Road evening closure continues: The Beversbrook Road closure is scheduled to remain in place until Friday 10 July as the wider A3102 improvement works continue. Allow extra time on Calne approaches.
