Boat trips and restoration tours at Pewsham Locks

Pewsham Locks opens from 10am to 2.30pm on Saturday 12 September. What's On

Friday 11 September

Three indie acts at The Ruze, 6.30-11pm. Talk in Code headline an indie night on Union Road in Chippenham, joined by singer-songwriter Flora Fiora and indie-rock band Sebastian & Me. Tickets cost £10; see the indie-night information.

Saturday 12 September

Pewsham Locks open day, 10am-2.30pm. Take an electric boat trip, learn about wildlife work and see the canal restoration up close at Pewsham Locks. The pop-up café opens at 10am and boat trips begin at 12.30pm, weather and water levels permitting.

Meet characters from Chippenham's past, 10.30am-1.30pm. The free final summer opening at Yelde Hall brings characters from the town's past into the council chamber, with pirates from 1709 in the old lock-up. See the Yelde Hall opening information.

Free town walk through Chippenham's history, 2-3pm. A Chippenham Museum guide leads a 40-minute walk from the Buttercross, covering the town from King Alfred and the Saxons to today. Places are limited and advance booking is essential; book the free town walk.

Sunday 13 September

Final free Park Yoga session of the summer, 9.30-10.30am. The last Park Yoga session of the 2026 season takes place by the tennis courts in John Coles Park, Chippenham. The class is free and designed to be welcoming and inclusive; check the Park Yoga information.

Roadworks and Transport

Stockley Lane closure continues: Stockley Lane East at Blackland Crossroads is scheduled to remain closed through Wednesday 23 September for water-network work.

Heddington road closure through Friday: The road north from Stockley Road in Heddington towards the C247 and C251 junction is scheduled to remain closed through Friday 11 September for water-network work.

A4 closure near Pewsham next week: The A4 between Pewsham Roundabout and the A342 junction is scheduled to close from Monday 14 to Saturday 19 September for Wiltshire Council roadworks.
