A4 closure continues near Pewsham

The A4 between Pewsham Roundabout and the A342 junction is scheduled to remain closed until 3pm on Saturday 19 September for Wiltshire Council roadworks.

A new big-screen season starts nearby

Benson Hall in Compton Bassett starts its new theatre, ballet and opera cinema season at 7pm on Tuesday 22 September with National Theatre Live's The Misanthrope, starring Sandra Oh. Tickets for the announced productions cost £13 to £16; see the full big-screen programme.

Friday 18 September

Step inside one of Lacock's oldest houses, 11am-2.20pm. Visit No 2 High Street, a medieval open hall that later became a coffee tavern and village post office. Free 20-minute slots run through the day; booking is advised, and normal admission applies if you also visit Lacock Abbey and its grounds. Check the No 2 High Street times.

Saturday 19 September

Improver and intermediate line dancing in Derry Hill, 10am-1pm. Get In Line holds a three-hour pop-up workshop at Lansdowne Hall, covering Doctor Doctor, Trailerblazer and Hot Tamales. Tickets are not required and you can pay at the door; see the Derry Hill workshop information.

Free Heritage Open Day at Chippenham Museum, 10.30am-3.30pm. The museum marks 25 years at 9-10 Market Place with stories uncovered by its Young Curators Group about the people who once lived and worked in the building. Entry to the Heritage Open Day is free.

Band of Pilgrims play at Bowden Hill, 7-9.30pm. The Wiltshire and Bath semi-acoustic group brings original songs, close harmonies and new takes on familiar favourites to St Anne's Church near Lacock. Tickets cost £10; see the Band of Pilgrims concert information.

Sunday 20 September

Bowood opens its wedding showcase, 11am-2pm. Meet photographers, florists, bakers, musicians and other suppliers at Bowood Hotel, with bridal catwalks at 11.45am, 12.30pm and 1.15pm. RSVP by email through the Bowood wedding showcase page.

Roadworks and Transport

Stockley Lane closure continues: Stockley Lane East at Blackland Crossroads is scheduled to remain closed through Wednesday 23 September for water-network work.

Bowden Hill works through Monday: Roadworks are scheduled on Bowden Hill from Thursday 17 to Monday 21 September for water-network work, with part of the carriageway affected.
